Urban-Vertical CIC and the Arts for Health and Wellbeing Team at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity are thrilled to receive funding for an exciting new project, A Space To Grow – Lle i Dyfu, which connects growing and creating. We are incredibly grateful to the Arts for Health and Wellbeing Lottery funding stream, Arts Council of Wales.
Through a combination of the creative arts, nature and food-based learning and sharing, we are excited to explore the distinct benefits of an innovative synergistic approach to improving wellbeing and connecting people across Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and Wales.
Our year-long social prescribing project, A Space To Grow will focus on the creative opportunities that growing and sharing of food across cultures and communities can inspire, promoting connections through food, sustainability and environmental awareness in our communities, addressing food inequalities and supporting healthy communities.
We are excited to celebrate the deep connection between food, nature and the arts across different cultures, employing innovative interventions including belly-dancing for gut health, recycled film performances, innovative printing and dyeing, poetry and performance, lyrics and song writing /composition.
Get lost in the joy of writing and making music with our Songwriting for Wellbeing course with professional songwriter Mike James. Over the 4 weeks you will learn how to construct a song from the initial inspiration of finding a subject, writing the lyrics, and then adding melody and instruments to make a final song. No musical experience is necessary.
