FARM TO FORK is our 6 week growing & cooking course which runs weekly for adults and young people.
Each week a new microgreens or salad variety is introduced, and we will guide you how to grow, so you can gradually build your crop repertoire over the duration of the course.
Each week we will explore the benefits and background of each new variety, and you will have enough compost and seeds to grow your own. As part of our sessions, we will share some simple and tasty dishes you can prepare at home using the crops you are growing, and together we can test recipe ideas and begin creating our own Farm to Fork cookbook. Once your crops are at the harvest stage, we will encourage everyone in the group to Crop Swap with each other so that everyone can take home a variety of different produce harvested that week.
You will be allocated a micro Splottment, a designated area in our vertical farm to call your own for the six-week period of the course, and you can grow as much as you need for yourself and your family. You can visit your crops at designated times in between the course sessions to water, talk to ( yes they like conversation!) or help with anything at the farm. If you can’t make it in, don't worry as our team of trainees and volunteers will take care of your Splottment until our next Farm to Fork session.

As well as improving physical health did you know that food can boost your mood and give you good mental health too? Over this 6-week course you will learn simple ways to improve your mood through what you eat, how to identify the foods that are making you feel anxious and irritable and discover the key foods that will make you feel balanced, calm, and energised. You will learn about the beneficial role of vitamins, minerals, and superfoods (including microgreens) and why your brain and nervous system need healthy proteins and oils to maintain a positive outlook. Each week covers a different topic along with demos, food tasting, and recipe ideas and you'll be given a course journal to help you track your progress, write down hints & tips and keep a note of the foods that work for you. How nutritious!

COMING AGAIN SOON
GRUB CLUB is a mindful approach to connecting with growing and sharing food and designed for children 7-11yrs. Each week we follow a different theme, and activities include growing, creating, playing, movement and cooking. We will grow our own microgreens in Signal Box Farm and use the fantastic spaces at Railway Gardens for Urban Safari’s and movement through games. Our Green Room is the perfect space for us to explore through making, with arts and crafts activities. When children arrive at 10.30am, they will be greeted with a healthy snack to fuel the morning, and we will end the session with a shared seasonal lunch that the children will help to prepare. How Yummy!
